Platform Comparison Reports: from the inside of real implementations

Honest, first-hand notes on the IAM, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platforms we've actually delivered: what works well in practice, where the rough edges are, and what's worth asking a vendor before you sign.

What this is

This isn't vendor marketing, and it isn't an independent analyst report. It's our own professional opinion, formed through direct, hands-on delivery: the kind of thing you'd normally only get by talking to someone who's actually implemented the platform you're considering, not read about it.

  • Platform-by-platform notes from real delivery: configuration quirks, integration friction points, and what the vendor documentation doesn't quite tell you
  • Direct comparisons where we've implemented competing platforms for similar use cases
  • Practical questions worth putting to a vendor during your own RFP or proof-of-concept: the ones that actually separate a demo from a production deployment

Why it's restricted

We don't publish this openly. It's shared directly with organisations we're in a genuine conversation with: current clients, and prospects genuinely evaluating a platform decision. Request access below and we'll follow up directly to understand what you're looking at.

Basic Comparison is free for that kind of genuine evaluation. Deep Analysis reports are a paid engagement. We'll scope cost and timeline with you before starting.

What the structure looks like

This is a sample of the report structure: the real sections and colour-coding every report uses, just without real findings.

[Platform A] vs [Platform B]: Comparison Report Illustrative structure, not real findings

Sections 1–4 and 6 are every report, Basic or Deep Analysis. Deep Analysis adds section 5 below, and extends the capability set itself, beyond IAM Tech's standard taxonomy, to anything specific to your evaluation criteria.

  1. 1

    Executive Summary

How many vendors were compared, against IAM Tech's own capability taxonomy built from hands-on delivery (not each vendor's marketing categorisation), plus an overall coverage snapshot per vendor.

  2. 2

    Vendors Overview

Company and product overview for every vendor covered, drawn from their own materials.

  3. 3

    Capability Overview

How each vendor's coverage compares, category by category, colour-coded the same way throughout the report:

  4. 4

    Capability Comparison

The full matrix: every capability we track, every vendor, scored with the legend above.

  5. 5

[Topic]: in-depth analysis Deep Analysis only

One section per topic we've configured for this evaluation: going beyond the yes/partial/no rating above with the specific integrations, edge cases, and caveats a dot on a matrix can't capture.

  6. 6

    Overall Assessment

IAM Tech's own observations from actually working through these platforms, capability by capability.

This is the real structure, section order, and colour-coding every report uses. Vendor names, scores, and every specific finding above are illustrative placeholders, not real data; request access to see it built for the platform(s) you're evaluating.

Evaluating a platform decision?

Tell us what you're looking at and we'll follow up with access and a direct conversation.

List everything you're evaluating, even if it's a long list. We'll help narrow it down. Basic Comparison covers up to 3 platforms side by side; for a longer shortlist, Deep Analysis is scoped individually after an initial conversation.
